About:
Ernesto van Peborgh is a trailblazing entrepreneur and regenerative thinker dedicated to transforming the way we align human systems with nature’s wisdom. After more than two decades in investment banking and private equity — including leadership roles at Citicorp Equity Investments and founding successful funds — Ernesto made a radical pivot to focus on the intersection of natural ecosystems, knowledge commons, and the digital economy.
His journey has seen him wear many hats: investor, start-up founder under intense financial pressure, systems thinker, and designer of frameworks that go beyond sustainability. His work centers on regenerative design, helping to steward the transition from extractive economic models to ones that build true resilience for both people and the planet.
As Founder of The Seva Institute, Ernesto is now pioneering new paths at the convergence of generative AI, digital strategy, and nature finance. He develops solutions rooted in Generative Artificial Intelligent Agents (GAIAs) and regenerative stewardship models, exploring how technology can serve biocultural resilience and the commons.
Over the past 20+ years, he has led digital strategy and built knowledge ecosystems for some of Latin America’s largest companies while continuously experimenting with tools to expand collaboration, shared learning, and community regeneration. Alongside The Seva Institute, Ernesto co-founded (Re)Humans, a co-creative innovation lab working across the Americas, and remains active in ventures like TAQE and El Viaje de Odiseo — the latter recognized as one of the “Best B Companies for the World” in its category.
Through his writings, talks, and collaborative projects — from TEDx Buenos Aires to system science keynotes — Ernesto continues to ask the big questions: How do we align economies with living systems? How do we transform financial flows to nurture resilience rather than erode it? And how do we co-create new paths for a flourishing future?
