Torsten Thiele is the Founder and Executive Director of the Global Ocean Trust and Senior Advisor on Blue Finance at the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, advancing investment into nature-based solutions and blue natural capital. A Harvard Advanced Leadership Fellow, he works with global alliances and advisory boards to strengthen ocean governance, mobilize blue finance flows, and accelerate the regenerative ocean economy.

Torsten Thiele is a leading voice in regenerative ocean finance and governance, dedicated to advancing innovative investment solutions that restore ocean health. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Global Ocean Trust and Senior Advisor on Blue Finance at the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, where he drives strategies to channel capital into nature-based solutions and blue natural capital.
Drawing on his background in global project finance, including senior roles at Investec, CIT, and Bankgesellschaft Berlin, Torsten brings decades of experience in structuring complex investments. A Fellow of Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative, he works at the intersection of policy, science, and finance—serving on numerous international advisory boards including REV Ocean, Ocean 14 Capital, the Blue Natural Capital Financing Facility, and the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association.
Torsten is deeply engaged in improving global ocean governance, contributing to UN-led processes and multi-stakeholder coalitions. His work focuses on aligning regulatory frameworks, mobilizing private capital, and fostering innovative partnerships to deliver a sustainable and regenerative blue economy.
